Getting Started with EDI at JCPenney

This site provides JCPenney Trading Partners with the information necessary to participate in JCPenney's  Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) program. It includes procedures, policies, and detailed specifications of the EDI transaction sets. This site is updated as our EDI programs expand and adjust to business requirements.

What is EDI?

Simply stated, EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) is the computer to computer exchange of business documents between companies using a public standard format. Business documents are translated into a standardized EDI (ANSI X12) format for ease of communication and an elimination of hard copies.

What if my company isn't EDI capable?

JCPenney's Trading Partners may either outsource EDI thru services and products of an EDI Service Provider company or purchase EDI capable software.
